what's next?
Now that you have repented and have acknowledged Jesus as you Lord and Savior, there are some other steps you will need to make:
1. NURTURE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
Read the Bible regularly: find a translation of the Bible that you understand and begin in the New Testament. Don't worry if you don't understand some things now. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you and the words will come alive for you. If you don't have a Bible please stop by Guest Services the next time you're at Church and we will give you one.
Pray: Prayer is a two-way conversation with God. You can talk to Him about anything, the Bible says that He is always listening when we pray and He will respond to our prayers according to His will for our lives.
Worship God: There are many expressions of worship, like singing, raise your hands up, get on your knees, telling God how much you love Him. Spend time in God's presence and eventually you will learn how to recognize His voice. And remember that the ultimate expression of worship is obeying Him.
2. GET BAPTIZED
Baptism represents the death and burial of the old you, and your resurrection to a new life in Christ. Baptism always follows belief and changing your heart to go after God. The baptism does not save us, we are saved bu God's unearned favor and love. Baptism is an outward sign that we are now living a new life in Jesus. Read Acts 2:38, Romans 6:1-5, Mark 16:16.
3. RECEIVED THE HOLY SPIRIT
The wonderful ting about this new life is that you are not left by yourself to figure it out. Jesus promised that the Father would send a Helper, who is the Holy Spirit, to guide us, to teach us, to direct us, and even to let us know when we are wrong. The Holy Spirit is the one who empowers and enables you. He is a gift that we received by asking the Father in faith (Luke 11:13). He is God living inside you, helping you become all He desires you to be. Read Acts 2:1-14, Acts 19:1-16, John 14:16-17, John 14:26.
4. CONNECT WITH A LIFEGROUP
You are not alone. In addition to the Holy Spirit, God has placed you in His family, a family with other believers who can walk with you and help you grow closer to Him. It is important that you get connected with a Life Group, where you can do life together, worship God together, learn together, grow together and became a part of a spiritual family.
