After identifying a huge need in our community regarding school children’s nutritional needs on the weekends and praying about how we could make an impact, we launched plans for the PB&J Project. We currently support 40 children from Peebles Elementary School in Killeen with hopes of expanding the project to other schools.
Mission: To provide children, identified by the teachers and school who are in most need of nutritional assistance while away from the school, with healthy, ready to eat food for them to take home on Fridays and last for the whole weekend.
Every 4th Friday of the month, GetFit, in conjunction with Christian Life Church, packs 40 backpacks filled with ready to eat food for children from Peebles Elementary School. In addition, we provide free Thanksgiving meals to our PB&J families as well as an amazing Christmas event in December called The Christmas Blessing.
